Class 5 Monocular Depth Cues

For class 5 we had to demonstrate the monocular depth clues. Here are my screenshots demonstrating each one.

Size difference: Here, the tree is bigger than the house because it is closer to my avatar.

Occlusion: The tree is blocking the castle because it is in front of it. Therefore, I cannot see the castle completely.

Lighting and Shading: The house is light on the side, and it casts a shadow backwords. This gives a sense of 3 dimensions.

Texture Density: The tiles on the roof look denser as you look further away from my avatar. This shows distance and 3 dimensions

Linear Perspective: Close to my avatar, the railroad lines look parallel to each other. As the railroad moves further away from my avatar, the lines converge into one line.

Atmospheric Perspective: The spider in front of my avatar is very clear and focused. The pumpkins in the distance are more blurry and unfocused.

Class 5 Google SketchUp

I had to build a home for google sketchup for class #5 on 10/25/09 for homework.
Here are some screenshots of me building it.

I have made a living room, kitchen, and bed

I am adding walls, and making sure all rooms align together.

I am now painting the tiles outside and have put carpet within my house. I have also put a door, and windows.

I decided to work on the outside area. I wanted a gated entrance with a nice driveway.

Here is my final house. I put the roof up to finish it.

10/18 Homework - Build a Home

For homework, we were asked to participate in a small competition. We were split into two groups, and each group had to build a home. The nicest home would win. I was part of the Fabo team.

Here we are laying the ground floor, and starting to build our home.

We all siftly began decorating the living room and kitchen

I made a table to go along with our couch.

Here, I decided a parrot would look nice in the corner.

The house is slowly coming together, and here I am making the bed.

I decided to work on the backyard and made a few additions to the hot tube.

Here I am helping make the roof.

I decided to take a step back and look at our house.

I decided to make the hot tub a little nicer. I added pink flamingos to welcome our guests, and a party hat to cover them from rain.

again, I wanted to get an aerial view of our house. It came together quite nicely.

Class 10/18

Here is my blog for our class on 10/18/09. We met in second life, and went over how to build anything in Second life.

This is our first stab at building objects in second life.

Here I learned how to rotate objects.

I also learned how to make them bigger and smaller

I decided to try to build a small home and test out my skills.

Here, I am making a temple, and combining every skill I learned.

Assignment in 10/04 class - Five Friends

In Class on 10/04 we were asked to make five friends before the next class. Here are my adventures trying to make friends, it was not an easy task.

1. My first friend, after many attempts, was Date Adder. After I complemented him on his clothing, he decided to help me acquire clothes and help me make a little money for myself.

2. Date brought me to his sisters club where I would become a host. After a long talk, she decided that I could learn to be a good host, and we became friends. Her name is Witchey.

3. At this meeting, I also met the head dancer for this club. She did not seem to be my biggest fan, but was ok with me working at the club. Here name was jada.

4. After a little shopping, I decided to try out my new cloth. I met talc at a dance club, and we became friends. She seemed to like dancing a lot, and wanted to win a contest.

5. I met my last friend at the same night club. She was a little more quiet, and did not speak very much. She seemed to be a tattoo artist. Either way, we talked a little about Immersive Education, and became friends. Her name was Sansara
